Fire codes prohibit use of hallways for storage of personal belongings. They must be kept clear. Each building may decide to set aside areas of the common space for hobby areas, bike racks/hooks, dark rooms, shop space, etc. These must conform to city codes, having the approval of each member of that building.

Smoking is prohibited in halls and basement common areas.
