Snow removal policy

(Revised October 27, 2004)

Parking lot

With each accumulation of 2” or more of snow, the plows will arrive to clear the lot by plowing the snow onto the lawn areas. You should expect the plows to arrive after the snow ceases to fall. Example: It starts snowing in the evening. It may cease by 6:00 a.m. If it has snowed 2” or more, (according to the Airport/National Weather Bureau’s report), the plows will arrive to perform their cont[r]act services. Please remember that plows can’t clear the lot safely unless people move their vehicles. Your efforts will assist in keeping expenses to a minimum. When we schedule a complete plowing of the parking lot, notice will be posted at least 24 hours in advance. If you will be out of town, you should plan ahead to have someone move your vehicle or notify the office to make some other arrangement to avoid towing at your expense.

Call 612-348-SNOW (7669), for parking information during a snow emergency or visit www.ci.minneapolis.mn/us/snow/index.asp to review city ordinances & snow emergency info. Snow plowing and sanding of your city streets – call to request special sanding or plowing 612-673-5720.

Sidewalks

With each accumulation of 2” or more of snow, the shovelers will arrive to remove the snow from the walks. They will perform their contract services in accordance with the City of Minneapolis’s ordinances, which is to have the snow removed within 4 daytime hours after a snowfall.

Members responsibility

It is each members participation requirement to remove snow from the walks in between snowfalls and for snowfalls under 2” and blowing and drifting snow. The City requires the walks to be shoveled the entire width so that pedestrians and wheelchairs can safely navigate. Fire hydrants must also be kept clear. Please ask your buildings participation contact person for your shoveling assignment. See separate posting titled “Member Snow Shoveling!”

By following these requirements you will be doing your part in keeping the sidewalks clear and safe. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Christina Marlatt, Property Manager, at the OTIT office 612-341-4394.
