Patios

  1. Members and their guests must abide by co-op noise rules, and may not congregate on patios between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m.
    1. The board of directors will consider relaxing these hours for co-op wide events to which all members have been invited.
  2. Members may use the grills on either patio area.
    1. Grills must be kept at least 15 feet from any building (see Safety)
    2. To minimize odors, members must use petroleum-based starter fluids sparingly, using only the minimum quantity of fluid needed to get charcoal fires started. Charcoal chimney starters, which do not use liquid fuel, are strongly recommended. Products pre-saturated in fuel, such as Match Light, are prohibited. Members must not cook on petroleum-based starter fuel.
    3. Members who use the grills are expected to clean the grill racks and empty ashes from the grills after use.
    4. Members who host parties on the patios are expected to empty the waste and recycling receptacles into the dumpster and recycle bins, respectively, after use.
    5. When members are finished grilling, they should close grill covers and close all grill vents to extinguish fires. Grills must not be allowed to sit open overnight or during rainstorms.
    6. Water should not be poured into grills
  3. Members may use the firepit in the south patio area.
    1. Fires are allowed between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.
    2. No fires are permitted if prevailing winds exceed 10 mph
    3. Fires must be supervised at all times
    4. The fire must be doused with water when finished
    5. The fire pit is not for cooking food
    6. Users must keep fires at a reasonable size (flames under 2 feet)
    7. Only untreated, unpainted, dry wood and kindling may be burned. Treated woods and garbage may not be burned under any circumstances.
    8. The firepit should not be used when Minneapolis has issued an air pollution alert
  4. The co-op will furnish a portable trash receptacle at each patio.
  5. Members should obtain approval from the board of directors before “donating” grills to the patios.
  6. The board of directors reserves the right to dispose of unneeded patio furnishings.
